How to Cancel eMeals (and Switch Without Losing a Week)

Where you cancel depends on who bills you — eMeals or Apple — and when you cancel decides whether you pay for another term. Every step below comes from eMeals' own terms and help center, Apple's and Google's support pages, all checked on October 12, 2026. If you're leaving because you want the Walmart cart built for you, the last section covers that switch.

The short answer

To cancel eMeals, open the Account section of the eMeals app or the Member Area at emeals.com/account/subscriptions and follow the prompts. If you subscribed through Apple, cancel in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Cancel at least 48 hours before your billing cycle ends — eMeals' terms require it to stop the renewal — and don't rely on deleting the app; that cancels nothing.

Billed by eMeals (web)

  1. Sign in at emeals.com/account/subscriptions.
  2. Choose to cancel.
  3. Continue until you see the confirmation screen.

Billed by Apple (iPhone)

  1. Settings > tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions > eMeals.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription.

On Android

  1. Paid on emeals.com? Use the web steps.
  2. Receipt from Google Play? Open Play subscriptions.
  3. Select eMeals > Cancel subscription.

Step 1: find out who bills you

eMeals can be paid for in more than one place, and only the place that charges you can stop the charge. Look at the most recent receipt in your email or the charge on your card statement. A receipt from Apple means the App Store owns your subscription. A charge from eMeals means you manage it in eMeals' Member Area. eMeals' terms add a third case: if you got eMeals through a partner offer, that partner's cancellation and refund terms apply instead, and the partner discloses them when you buy.

Step 2: cancel in the right place

If eMeals bills you directly

  1. Open the Account section of the eMeals app, or sign in to the Member Area at emeals.com/account/subscriptions.
  2. Start the cancellation and follow the prompts. eMeals' help center says to keep going until you reach a screen confirming the cancellation — take a screenshot of it.
  3. Prefer the phone? eMeals' terms list (800) 372-4811. The terms also link a cancel page, emeals.com/cancel, which opened the same subscriptions page when we tried it.

If you subscribed through Apple (iPhone or iPad)

eMeals can't cancel an App Store subscription for you — its terms say Apple manages those cancellations and refunds. Apple's current steps:

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap eMeals.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll). If there's no cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red, Apple says the subscription is already cancelled.

eMeals' own iTunes help article describes an older Settings path (iTunes & App Store > Apple ID). Apple's page above is the current one.

On an Android phone

eMeals' help center has no Google Play-specific article, and its terms only name Apple as a third-party biller. So check your receipt first. If eMeals charged you, use the Member Area steps above. If the charge came from Google Play, Google's steps are:

  1. Open subscriptions in the Google Play app.
  2. Select the eMeals subscription.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.

Google notes that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription — the same warning eMeals gives.

Step 3: cancel at least 48 hours before renewal

eMeals' two public sources give two different deadlines. The terms of service are the contract, and they are the stricter one, so plan around them.

eMeals sourceWhat it says about timingWhat it says about money
Terms of serviceCancel at least 48 hours before the end of your current billing cycle to avoid automatic renewalCancel during the free trial and you owe nothing; cancel after the trial and payments already made are not refunded. Access lasts to the end of the billing period.
Help centerCancel before your renewal date — e.g. a July 29 renewal means cancelling on or before July 28Apple-billed refunds go through Apple, which processed the payment

Use the 48-hour rule, not the day-before rule

If your renewal is July 29 and you cancel on July 28, you meet the help center's example but may miss the 48-hour window in the terms. Cancel at least two full days early — and since eMeals keeps your access through the end of the period you paid for, cancelling early costs you nothing.

Before you cancel: a five-minute checklist

  • Find your renewal date. eMeals has a help article for this. Count back 48 hours and put that date on your calendar.
  • Save the recipes you actually cook. We couldn't find eMeals documentation on whether saved favorites stay viewable after a subscription ends, so copy or print the handful your household asks for again before your access runs out.
  • Finish this week's grocery order first. If you send lists to Walmart or another grocer from the app, place the order you need before your access ends.
  • Check for a second subscription. If you ever signed up both on the web and through the App Store, cancel each one where it was started.
  • Keep the confirmation. Screenshot the confirmation screen or keep the email, in case a renewal charge shows up anyway.

Switching to a planner that fills your Walmart cart

To be fair to eMeals: it already connects to Walmart. On iPhone, its help center says it matches your list to products in stock at your local Walmart, lets you swap items, then adds everything to your Walmart cart with one tap; on Android, or with other grocers, it walks you through adding each ingredient. What it doesn't do is plan the week with you or run that shopping step for you — you pick meals from its menus and work through the cart in the app.

MindyCart is built around handing both jobs off. Mindy is a meal-planning assistant you hire for $19/month after a 7-day free trial. Here is the whole switch, step by step:

  1. Sign up and set two things: your household size (1 to 8) and your Walmart store, found by ZIP code. Mindy shops that saved store.
  2. Tell Mindy about the week in chat. How many dinners, what you're in the mood for, what to avoid. She proposes meals with overlapping ingredients so packages get used up, and scales each recipe to your household.
  3. Bring the recipes you saved. Paste a recipe's text, upload photos of it, or share a link, and Mindy can plan from it — family favorites included.
  4. Approve the plan, then edit one list. Mindy merges shared ingredients into one shopping list grouped by grocery section. Remove things you already have, change quantities, mark items organic, or add extras like paper towels.
  5. Tap Start Shopping and get on with your day. Mindy picks products at your saved Walmart store in the background and messages you when the cart is ready.
  6. Claim the cart on Walmart.com. Open the link, sign in to your own Walmart account, review the cart, choose pickup or delivery, and pay Walmart. Mindy never takes grocery payment.

How to switch without losing a week

Because eMeals keeps your access until the period you paid for ends, cancel it 48+ hours before renewal and start MindyCart during those last days. You still have this week's eMeals recipes while Mindy plans next week, so there's no week with no plan.

When a different option fits better

MindyCart is Walmart only, and it costs more per month than eMeals' longer terms. It isn't the right switch for everyone:

  • You shop somewhere other than Walmart. Staying with eMeals may make sense — its homepage lists Walmart, Amazon, Kroger, Instacart and other grocers.
  • You mostly want a home for your own recipes. A recipe organizer such as Plan to Eat ($5.95 a month or $49 a year, with a 14-day free trial and no card required, per its homepage) saves recipes from any site and builds a shopping list from your calendar.
  • You were about to move to Mealime. Mealime announced it will shut down on October 21, 2026. See Mealime alternatives for Walmart shoppers.

For the full field, sorted by what each service actually does, see eMeals alternatives.

Who it's for

Walmart shoppers who are cancelling eMeals because they want the week planned with them and the cart built for them — not another menu to pick from.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my eMeals subscription?

Open the Account section of the eMeals app, or sign in to the eMeals Member Area at emeals.com/account/subscriptions, and follow the prompts until a screen confirms the cancellation. eMeals' terms also list a phone line, (800) 372-4811. If you subscribed through Apple, cancel in your iPhone's Settings under your name, then Subscriptions.

How far before renewal do I need to cancel eMeals?

eMeals' terms say to cancel at least 48 hours before the end of your current billing cycle to avoid automatic renewal. Its help center uses a looser example (cancel by the day before your renewal date), so the safe move is to follow the 48-hour rule.

Does deleting the eMeals app cancel my subscription?

No. eMeals' help center says deleting the app from your phone does not cancel your subscription, and Apple and Google say the same about their app stores. You have to cancel the subscription itself.

I subscribed on my iPhone. Why can't I cancel on the eMeals website?

Subscriptions started through Apple's App Store are managed by Apple, according to eMeals' terms. Cancel in Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose eMeals, then tap Cancel Subscription. eMeals says refund requests for Apple charges go to Apple, because Apple processed the payment.

Will I get a refund if I cancel eMeals?

eMeals' terms say a subscription cancelled during the free trial owes nothing, and a subscription cancelled after the trial does not get a refund of payments already made. You keep access to eMeals until the end of the billing period you paid for.

What is the easiest way to switch from eMeals to a planner that fills my Walmart cart?

Cancel eMeals with at least 48 hours to spare, then use the access you have left to start a MindyCart trial ($19/month after a 7-day free trial). You choose your Walmart store at signup, tell Mindy what the week looks like in chat, give her any recipes you want to keep cooking, approve the plan, and she builds the Walmart cart for you. You claim it and check out on Walmart.com yourself.
